value of a MM G-900

Hi there, a fellow in my area has a MM G-900 for sale. It is diesel and has 3 point and hydraulics. It looks to be in good shape. Can anyone tell me what a tractor like that should expect to sell for? Thanks in advance for all your help!

Hi there, just went to see tractor. It has 6100 hours on it, is the engine on its way to a rebuild? or can these tractors go farther without rebuild. It has 3pt and dual pto's. Sheetmetal is pretty good-rear fenders have a little rust...tires are ok. Thanks again...

Typically the diesels needed to be rebuilt in 3-4000 hours. Broken top rings normally the problem. The top compression ring needed to be a little thicker and piston top ring groove wear was a problem because the pistons did not have an iron band insert for the rings. I would guess this engine has already been rebuilt or is in desperate need of a rebuild. How did it start? It should start at 40 F with no problems, and misfire if any, should immediately clear up (no ether!). Never reuse old pistons due to the groove wear, gas engines maybe, never diesel unless they have the iron band insert. I can't believe some will rebuild a high speed diesel engine with used pistons that show piston ring groove wear, just to save a few bucks.

I have seen G-900's all the way from $2,500 for poor-fair ones to near $6,000 for excellent ones.

The one you are looking at sounds like $3500-$4,000 at the very most.

Forgot to mention in the other post, but I agree with the $3,500-$4,000 being the top range for this high hour machine.

Thanks for the info, guys...I'll go see the tractor soon and get them to start it up for me...I'm a little worried that there is a ether can mounted on the frame with an electric switch on the dash. Maybe that was only used for very cold weather starts only???(this tractor is up in Canada too). Anyways, thanks for the help and I'll let you know how it goes...
