I have a ZA that needs an engine overhaul. I would possibly like to add a bit of power for an occasional tractor pull. Is there a set of pistons from a later engine that I can use, besides just oversize? Any other tips without breaking the bank? thanks for any help.

Get in touch with Wendall Everett. I bought a set of Ross pistons from him that can"t be beat. Don"t skimp when it comes to major parts. All the time and effort spent just to try to save a buck isn"t worth it.

I used 1.60 chevrolet valves in the cylinder blocks when I rebuilt my za.Was told that a lot of guys are doing this for a little extra breathing for the engine.Have not dyno'ed it yet so I am not sure. Find a lp head if you can.

A buddy of mine has U302 pistons in his ZAU. They may be hard to get and might be a shorter compression height. New ones are expensive. The chepest thing I have found is a set of cast aluminum 3.81 pistons offered from Welter's Farm Supply in MO. I have a set in my ZA engine. There are a few other tricks to making that engine crank better and they don't cost incredibly much. 45-50 h.p. is very reasonable.
