I harvested wheat and oats with my old MM 69 pull type combine this year.
The wheat was in a field that was better suited to disc under as many weeds were present, but I decided to give it a go anyway.
The oat field was perfect until a severe thunderstorm flattened it and the ground was too wet for a week to go in.
The 69 really lived up to the hype that MM used to describe the machine.

I asked the little combine to do an almost impossible job, and it did so with minimal trouble and it really did a good job in getting most of the crop in the bin.

It is a great little machine, but with only a 69 inch swath I had to glue my butt to a tractor seat.

I used a Massey Harris 44 to pull it in the wheat and a MM ZTU for the oats.
Both did a good job but it would have been much easier with live power!

Jim, I had the same experience with that combine here, now using a '53 Uni with the SAME combine labeled LA, with the 9' header, it can plug up before you know it's even straining, we are exceptionally DRY this year and the rag weeds outgrew the oats by 2x, had a heck of a time getting thru there, finally took the mower/conditioner and cut all the leftovers about 5" off the ground, then used my OG hayloader to load the STUFF on a hayrack so I could take it to the burn pile, HAD to get it off there, as that's my new alfalfa field. Really nice to hear from guys who use their machines. John

Use the machines! How about a GB LP that I pulled 4 plows with at plow day last Saturday. The GB never even broke a sweat. I easily got on and off the machine as required by the occasional wheat stubble plug up while I watched other fellows just about tear their nuts off getting on and off their row crop tractors to do the same thing. The field was a mile long in places. Took 40 minutes to make a round. What a gas!

WOW, I use my 50 UTS/LP to pull 3x14" here, also handles my 12' UO disc, got her stuck plowing 40+ year old sod, too tough, couldn't pull it in 1st, 336+ engine, took the 49 GTB/LP out there, doesn't run too good, has 4209 heads, etc, pulled the same plow in 3rd, had a really good day. Wish we had some land that was that long, most here is 750' at the most. Takes me as long to plow 5 acres as my neighbor takes to plow, plant and be gone on 120 acres.
