I recently puller a bad water pump off of a MM L400 loader. The serial number lists it as a L400 Parsons loader (405 & 505) I am not sure which is the model number. The tractor belongs to my father-in-law and I'm trying to track down some parts for him. The engine must have been used on a few different models in that same time period (early 1960's). Does anyone know if parts are still available for these early loaders? Or, is the engine common enough to share parts with other models? I've looked on-line for info on this loader but have found surprisingly little on this model. Thanks in advance for any information.

Joel,
There should be a serial # tag on the transmission housing and on the engine. If you can post this data I'm sure someone on the board can help you identify what you have.

The L400 loader was used on several MM models including the Big Mo 400 and 500 in the early 60s. Both of these tractors used the 206 engine. There are several parts vendors that can help you with these water pumps. You'll need to know what you have though before looking for a replacement. Try Welters Farm Supply in MO (417)498-6496.

Serial number on the tag is 21400078. I've looked at the serial list on this site and others but it seems not to be listed. I believe the 214 prefix indicates the L400 & L500 but I'm not entirely sure of the tractor itself. It also has the B13 backhoe. Thanks.

You need to look for a tag just above the starter. This will be the engine serial no. Also under the rod for the brake lock is a tag for tractor serial no. If the water pump is mounted on a plate in front of engine it should be a 206 or 220. Welters will have it,but you will need the troctor or engine serial nos.

Joel, there should be another tag on your tractor. If its a Big MO 400, 500, or 600, it should be on the right side of the transmission case and probably beneath the platform. There should be other I.D. tags on your B13 backhoe and on the engine.

Joel,
The 214 prefix is for the L400/500 Parsons loader. You'll have to look on the engine block and the transmission housing for the the engine/tractor serial #. Without either of those we can't tell you what tractor its mounted on. The fact that you also have the B13 backhoe would make it highly certain that its a Moline tractor but exactly which model is a just a guess.
