Since I started this discussion a couple of weeks ago, I thought I would add a few comments, in response to some of the messages the rest of you have posted regarding it.

I agree with one of our contributors that the event would need to be held in conjunction with either the winter or summer show. Because of that, the organization would need to fall to those folks organizing the show, or more preferable, a committee of people who would volunteer to organize it.

There was some mention from someone about needing to "pay" someone to be a presenter at these modern day service schools. I am quite certain that the folks that have the John Deere Service Schools DO NOT pay their presenters, those people volunteer, or are "volunteered" for the job because of their expertise in a particular topic.

I REALLY think that the MM Collectors & Enthusiasts should set our minds to putting something like this together, even if it is two or three years down the road. Remember, our older members are not getting any younger and their brilliant minds and experience MUST be tapped NOW, while we are all still together!

Just to give you an idea, here is a run-down of some of the topics our green-loving friends have presented at the last two Gathering of the Green events. Each seminar topic lasted approximately 90-minutes in-length and were run continuously throughout the day, so everyone could (conceivably) attend every topic if they so desired. I would like to hear more from those of you who have not graced us with your "two-cents-worth" on this topic. Take a look..... ..

This is a great idea hands down. The education need to pass down including for myself. Infact I have a tractor show to attend Sept 24th & 25th that complained of the lack of vintage tractors for reasons listed above. I'd like to attend one if its somewhat local. As far as a place to put on the program.....The sky is the limit.
-Schools (collages, vocational,high schools)
-fairgrounds
-churches
-dealerships (AGCO most likely)
