I was looking at the draw-bar closer today and trying to figyre out a way I can install a better requirement of a 1 in plate with a 3 in hole. (For tractor-pulling only) Not a twist type clevis. So my idea is to build another draw-bar thats an inch thick with everything I need. Miled steel is most common to purchase around here. A few of us dought that it will work without bending. But I myself don't believe a 45 Hp tractor will bend one inch miled steel. Your thoughts please? Thanx again in an advance!

I don't know how hard it is, but I got a bent drawbar from a salvage tractor and a 20 ton press wouldn't budge it.

Check your drawbar thickness, I think its about 1-1/4" (IF it was a jet3super it would be 1-1/2")

If you want maximum stiffness from a mild steel bar, get 2 pieces 1/2 the thickness you need. clamp them together and skip weld 2"-2-1/2"/4" (2 to 2-1/2" welds, with about 4" skips) all the way around. Use fairly high heat for deep penetration and then grind off fairly smooth so it fits the pockets. It will be stiffer than 1 solid bar. Then put your holes in.

I pull a UB I used rectangle tubing.I fit a piece of plate 3" in each end welded on a 3" ring drilled a hole in the other end to pin it to the tractor. I pull 5600,6100,6600,and 7100.Works great
