I wanted to get back with the guys advising me in swapping a tie-rod front to a dovetail slot pivot on a 335. I found out only later universals and utility models used the same front casting. The older models could not swap a tie rod type to the dove tail swivel (w/ bearing). The difference is in in the "hump" on the top of the casting. I'm installing a small MM single front fork on my Utility. I compared an old 335 parts book to Kevin Moschenrose's newer one and found a casting difference. Thanks for all the input. I'll keep you posted!

The hump is for the upper bering. If your tractor dosent have the hump you will need to change castings.A 445 or early Jetstar should work. The 445 has the lower radiator tank cast in it.

I have the bearing hump, but my radiator sits on top unlike the larger models. It has no power steering. Either does my bareback 1960 Jet Star.

Remove the stering arm, drop the shaft out and check if uper bering race will fit. You will need the lower bering, dove tail shaft, sector gear for shaft and bering holder.these can be from 445, 5 star , 4 star, jet star, or I think any of the smaller MM tractors. Not sure of M series, but they may also fit. The lack of power stering wont make any diffrence the worm gears are the same. Good luck.

Thanks. I have all the pieces including gear and dovetail from both e M5 and a 445 and they appear to be the same.
