Can anyone with a parts catalog get some information for me on the bearings in the front end? The tractor that i'm working on had water in the front end and the bearings are shot. One is below the half moon gear and the other is on the worm gear where the steering shaft goes into.

Thanks

I like to do business with a company, Baum Iron, they are hydralic experts but sell lots of other goodies. They sell all types of bearing and list all dimensions if you have to match something up. they also have tech support for oddballs like us, very knowagable and helpfull. I needed odd hydralic parts once called tech gave him sizes and needs he said no problem made up kit and sent it out(piston on 48 UTIL). I will leave email open if you need phone #. Catalog is in shop

Thanks for the reference! I found their site on the shop. I'm going to have to see if I can figure out a size on the bearing that I need though. It's rusted in two.

The cup & cone type bearing can be had at any bearing warehouse. Probably at a auto parts store. I don't remember the bearing numbers. The steering shaft bearings are another matter. I was told that they are an odd bearing & were at the time I was looking pretty pricey. I figured that when I replace mine that I will get a regular cup & cone type bearing & have the shaft turned down so a different cone could be pressed on each end.

Thanks for replying.

I've got a couple parts U's but I figure I may run into the same thing on them. The steering is locked on one of them, and I can't remember about the other. I was planning on bringing them to the parts store anyways. Actually, the bearing under the half moon gear is useable. But since everything has been rusted, the bearing isn't working the way it's supposed to. I soaked the bearing. The steering would work, it just isn't as easy to steer as it should be. The steering shaft bearing is shot, rusted and split in half. I'll keep what you said about the steering shaft bearing in my head, and see what comes up.

The tractor actually "supposedly" has the wrong front end as per the serial tag. It is a UTE tractor. There are brackets on the tractor that could point it out to have been a loader tractor, but they could also be for a cultivator, hence the reason for the narrow front end. I'd like to find the right front end for it, but I wouldn't even know where to start.

Thanks!
