Thanks for replying. I've got a couple parts U's but I figure I may run into the same thing on them. The steering is locked on one of them, and I can't remember about the other. I was planning on bringing them to the parts store anyways. Actually, the bearing under the half moon gear is useable. But since everything has been rusted, the bearing isn't working the way it's supposed to. I soaked the bearing. The steering would work, it just isn't as easy to steer as it should be. The steering shaft bearing is shot, rusted and split in half. I'll keep what you said about the steering shaft bearing in my head, and see what comes up. The tractor actually "supposedly" has the wrong front end as per the serial tag. It is a UTE tractor. There are brackets on the tractor that could point it out to have been a loader tractor, but they could also be for a cultivator, hence the reason for the narrow front end. I'd like to find the right front end for it, but I wouldn't even know where to start. Thanks!
