Having a problem with my diesel. All of the sudden it is running wide open with no throdle response. Thought at first the filter stoped up with water. I replaced it, still having same problem. If it does idle down, it is only momentarly then is goes wide open again. No fuel leaks. To my knowlege, it has never had any injector problems. Help...

Yes it sounds like the pump to me. The Rosa Master pumps had a 'flex plate' made of a rubber or plastic type material in them that can dry out and crack which will affect operation.

governor plate in pump is probably failing.
usually goes to full throttle, then quits.

You will need to remove the injection pump and send it into a diesel injection repair shop and have the pump rebuilt. I would not run it until it is repaired as to not damage the pump or engine. About 10 years ago we had a Deutz in with the Bosch injection pump. The tractor was run by migrant workers and they kept running it with the pump not working corectly like yours is. That was a big mistake. The injection pumps govenor blew and broke the pumps housing. This more than doubled the pumps rebuilding cost. Another thing to watch is on rare ocasions when the pump is acting up and speeds up by itself is the posibility of a run away. The pumps shut off unit can fail and the pump will continue to speed the engine up until the air intake us pluged by something to stall the engine. If the motor runs to fast it could throw a rod. This would mean a new engine or a new tractor and that cost a lot more than fixing it now. Injection pumps need to be sent into a injection pump repair shop to be fixed. They rebuild the pumps and put them on a test stand to make sure they are working corectly. If there isnt a injection pump shop in your area you may call me weekdays at work at 231-924-3420 and I can give you the numbers of a couple rebuild shops to call.
