I have a 1969 M670 Super Gas tractor and need to put transmission fluid in it. The filler cap, which is located on the floor of the tractor to the right of the gearshift lever, is one of those huge recessed nuts that takes a huge hex-wrench to open it. For those of us not blessed with some large implement wrenches, can anyone tell me what I can use to open that cap. It is on there kinda tight and I am looking for suggestions, either a commercially-available tool, or a do-it-yourself type of arrangement. I look forward to your suggestions! Thanks.

If you could measure it, maybe we could give you a push in the right direction, not having one of that model, I don't have a reference. John

Find a bolt that is slightly too large. Carefully take a grinder or file and cut it to fit. Weld a nut onto it. In the mean time soak the threads with PB blaster.
Good luck..

find a bolt that fits in there - weld a nut on it - put the head in the hole - use a socket

I have actually tried that, but cannot find a bold head that fits that size..... been to the hardware store, they are either too small or too big. It must be an odd size, which is part of my problem. I appreciate the suggestion. Wondering if anyone else has another idea? Thanks.

So what size does the hex inside measure? Get a piece of hex steel shaft from a machine shop to fit it or grind any shaft to just fit it and turn with a wrench, socket or pipe wrench. Did you try the hex on 9/16" bolts?
