fmm is correct you can use ether also to find a leak. A weak valve spring will also cause this problem and won't show up on a compression test. seems 10/38 is correct mm z's did have a cast rear wheel too i believe.

Have you tried that sparkplug in a different hole? I had that problem a couple weeks ago, for some reason both cylinders would fire when I swapped plugs. They Were NOT Champion plugs, either.

About 10 years ago I had a U that did similar, would miss at idle, not noticeable when reved up or under load. Finally pulled the head off and the exhaust valve seat had a groove in it.

Check for an intake leak on that cylinder. If the gasket isn't tight or cracked, it will suck air but under load and at higher rpms they will usually hit. Try an oil can on the gasket to see if it sucks in the oil. I've had this happen.
