I have a 1958 model 445 with a Tel-O-Flo System. I was using the tracter with a haybine recently and the longer I used the tractor, the less the hydraulics worked. I seemed to be losing pressure although at the time I figured I was getting low on fluid. It finally quit working altogether. I fluid level was good. The power steering still works fine. But there is no three point hydraulics nor remote. I changed the filter,(It appeared to be opriginal, and was very dirty). Still no hydraulics. I then pulled the Webster pump and it appears to be in good working order. I am open to any and all suggestions. I will do a presssure check next, I guess.

The power steering gets the first about 2 gal/min of fluid through a priority valve located in the right rear of the pump. The steering system has ts own pressure regulator for this fluid. Any excess fluid is sent to the control valve assembly through rearend case & internal plumbing. There is flow but no pressure in this portion of the system until one of the levers is operated. All three levers operate the master spool which blocks the flow & directs it to whichever spool is operated. Pressure builds until it reaches the relief valve setting.

It would appear that your pump may be OK or ate least it is pumping enough to operate the power steering. It could be that the spring on the relief valve has broken but most likely the locknut & setscrew that adjusts the relief pressure has become loose and backed off and maybe fell out. That would explain the gradual decrease in function. The relief valve adjustment is located in the top left side of the hole under the draft & drop control levers under the seat.

It could be other things as well but check that first.

When I pulled it apart, I found that the relief valve lock nut, adjusting screw and spring seat were all missing. I still can't find them. Guess I'll have to try to find replacements, but I still can't figure out where they went.

I'm thinking you might want to take the seat off and top cover (I think there is a cover over the rockshaft in the main housing.) and look in the main housing. You will probably have to drain the fluid through the drain plug on the right side if the case.

Those parts could find their way into the intake for the pump. If its made like a 335 there is no screen there and the hole is in the bottom of the case.

Kelvin is correct that there is no screen between the resevoir and the pump. The parts have to be inside the system somewhere, or it wouldn't have worked before, so you will have to find them to prevent them from damaging other parts of the system.

There are no parts. I found out that there never were. It is a shimmed pressure relief valve. The casting is not threaded. So that's not the problem, but I suspect that the problem is the pressure tube. It is not like the drawing in the IT Manual. It is a curved tube at the back end and it appears to be broken just past the curve. (It should have an o-ring fitting on each end, right?) I can't figure out how to get the remainder out. I can email pics to anyone who wants to see what I'm talking about.

I remember finding a curved tube in a system years ago. I think it was an early type system. It had a partially half round piece that slipped over the curved tube and allowed the setscrew to hold it into the housing properly. Since both systems show the same part number for the tube, someone could have put a tube from an early system in yours. The tube should have an o-ring on both ends. You should be able to get hold of the broken off piece through the drain plug hole.

Is that the tube that runs from where the oil from the pump enters the reservoir up to the control valve? If so, on a 335, there is a setscrew in the drain plug that held it in the reservoir at the rear, where it makes a 90 degree turn and enters the reservoir casting. Your 445 may be similar.
