how touchy is the 3 point adjustment on a 445? i seem to be able to get it to go up justd fine, but it goes down very very slow, and usually i have to have the lever as far forward as i can get it. i have read and followed the manual but must be overlooking something, or is it just a very fine point where it will all work just right.

I'm assuming you have the later Tel-O-Flo system:

One of the Rate/Cycle levers controls the speed it drops. there will be a plate on the top of the control valve where the 3-point lift lever enters it from the side. The rate/cycle levers are in that plate, their arms may be broken off.

If yours is not like this, you have the earlier system.

If it is the older lift system there is a adjustment internally, you have to remove the cover where you add oil to the system, and if I remember right there is a starwheel adjuster to control the rate of drop. If the system is full it is under the oil level

i messed with this thing this weekend and found that for some reason the lever inside the fill area that adjusts pressure (according to the book) does not back itself off when the lever is moved to the down position.
