Hello, I have a 504 LP in an A4T-1600. When I start to pull any type of load the engine will begin to back fire under a load. I have switched my LP regulator with one from a G1000 and I have no change. I have turned up the fuel to be richer and also leaned it out but while pulling a disc or other load it will run for a little while then just start back firing up through the intake. The engine was overhauled very few hours ago, new pistons, bearings, valve grind, 4232 heads. But could this be a valve problem? It will run perfect until you apply some load? Any help is appreciated.

Your LP carb may be set too lean. We have had that happen on the dyno with LP tractors. We cured it by richening the mixture. What kind of carb is it?

We had the same problem on our 504cc engine in our LP. Tried numerous suggestions from neighbors.
a retired mechanic came out and heard to backfire when we were plowing. He asked what plugs we had put in it. His next statement was " get those #### plugs out of that engine." He replaced with what manufactor suggested and no further adjustments were needed.

Sounds like possible predetonation. You will need the coolest plug possible for propane under a sustained losd like plowing. Auto lite 386 works well in two cylinders, but I have more luck with 373's in my G Moline. Also check your timing. Could be a little advanced. Lastly, I have seen a couple of condensors do fine idling and only break down under heavy draw such as a load. Just some ideas as you are there and I am not.
