Tractor starts well cold, runs fine, but starts very hard when hot and has intermittent spark. Haven't sent out this mag for rebuild should I or do you think it is an easy fix like the condenser? Points are good and gapped correctly.

Heat expansion makes the coil windings pull apart and the insulation inside to open up and break down and short out and then after cooling it works again. Bad condenser will show points cratering and will usually cause poor fire starting also. If run long enough the mag housing can expand too and if bearings are bad or loose and the magnet rotor drags any at all it will cause intermittent spark.

I'd think the coil was going bad.

I know you've got a mag here, but if I have this problem with a distributor system, I'd replace the coil.
