Tracy,
Don"t know if this will help but I had the same situation removing one the blocks on my UB. I used a block of wood and a hydraulic jack from underneath up through the crankcase and pushed up against the block. Broke it loose in no time.

I know on my 51 R I had a heck of a time. finally I used 6 flat bladed regular screw drivers and gradually worked the block off. I had tried everything else.

Are the rod bolts all undone or pistons out? Is the tractor stuck?

Yes I took all rods and pistons out. Tractor is not stuck. The reason i am trying get block off becase i saw either crack or scratch on cylinder wall. So i can it to machine shop to check it.
There one cylinder head stud bolt can't get it loose. The bolt is same place where the block that i can't get it loose.
Thanks
Tracy

If it is one of the studs that goes through the water manifold on top they can get rusted up pretty tight. Usually take a big pipe wrench and get the stud out first if you can.

MIB-I also am having similar problems and others (ugh!) with a GB I'm restoring. I left my email open, could you email me yours so I could ask more questions? If you'd email your phone number back, that'd be ideal, cause I could call you on my dime and go thru my list of questions! Your help would be much appreciated! Have a nice day!

Some times they are very difficult. I have a chisal that I have ground to a sharp edge and thin like a putty knife that gradually gets thicker. Some guys seal both sides of their gasket and the jugs are like welded down. Take it easy with the chisal. I usually start where the jug is rounded. Jerry
