I have what I believe is a 1950 MM Z (serial # 0065002100). The serial tag says its a Z, but serial numbers lead me to believe it may be a ZAU (can anyone help me on this too?) Does anyone know the fluid specs (amounts, oil weight) for the rear end, engine, steering gears, etc. Also wondering, has anyone put an alternator on their tractor, and what is the best way and type of alternator to use. I am converting to a 12 volt system and I currently don't have a generator. Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance.

Brad,
The "0065" prefix is for a 1950 ZAU. As Kelvin stated, if you've got 2 closely spaced front wheels then you've still got the original "U" or Universal front end. The serial # tag will just say "Z" for all the ZA series tractors whether its a ZAS, ZAN, ZAU, or ZAE.

140wt oil in the transmission. I think its about 9 gallons. I use 30 wt oil in the engine. Filter is NAPA 1108. Use same gear oil in the steering gear.
Its a ZAU if it has 2 wheel narrow front. Z=model
A=second series
U='Universal' 2 wheel narrow front.
