My ub has been siiting and I just got it out for the summer. It is leaking oil around the starter motor. Is this a rear motor seal or crank seal. If so, is it a touchy job?

thanks.
feel free to repond

Leaking around the starter? Is it also coming out the drain hole in the bottom of the bell housing? It might be good to take the clutch inspection plate off the bell housing and look, make sure its oil from the engine and not from the transmission.
When you ask is it a 'touchy'job? If its like an older U, Its not terribly hard, but you have to remove the oil pan, (150 pounds) and the rear seal housing from the block. Then if you want to try to fix it in the tractor, you have to compress the upper half of the felt seal. 2 ways to do this (I have never done either, just read or heard about them) First is to take a punch and hammer and compress the upper half of the seal as tightly as you can in its groove and then cut a piece off one half of the new seal, and force as much of it as possible in the void where the old seal was.
Then put the lower half of the seal in the seal housing and put it back. Don't forget the shim gaskets. If you leave them out, you will have trouble making the pan gasket seal back there. I guess you might can get the cork seals for the seal housing from AGCO. I've always used pieces of soft wood cut to size.
The other way to renew the seal in the tractor is to force several stiff wires around the outer edge of the upper seal half, between the seal and the groove it sits in. This in effect forces the seal closer to the crank. This method was shared with me by an older mechanic. I'm thinking he had the equipment (something like a pin vise with a hollow handle) to put those wires in with.

Like I said, I'm just speaking from what I've been told and read, I've never actually fixed one in the tractor.

OH-Those long bolts at the back sure do come in handy lining up the oil pan and gasket when you put it back up. I use a floor jack.
And you need to snug the bell housing bolts before tightening the oil pan bolts., since the oil pan bears some of the weight of the tractor.
