The ring gear on ALL the EE/RE/206 engines is the same. The parts books bear this out. ONLY the ring gear, not the flywheel. Hope this helps. John

I would check for a new ring gear. You don't need a whole flywheel if you can find a good ring gear.
Welters 417-498-6496
Everetts 740-922-3335
are 2 places to check for one.
I also think the same ring gear was on Rs and ZTs.

If it has not been 'turned' you can heat your old gear, get it off, turn it 90 degrees and put it back on. This puts an unworn set of teeth opposite the starter. and it should solve your starter-not-engaging-flywheel problems.

The clutch/flywheel setup on a ZA is a lot different than what's on a R. I'm not sure about the ZT.

Swapped a 206 into my R last summer and had to use the flywheel/ring gear from the 165 to make it work.

I think the ring gear from the donor ZA is good. If somebody needs one cheap I can take a look at it this weekend when I'm at the farm.

I didn't say that an R flywheel would fit a ZA. I just said I thought the ring gears on those flywheels were the same, although I don't have the parts books in front of me to prove it.

I wish I'd thought to measure the ring gears when I did that engine swap. The gear from the 165 motor was junk so I bought a used one from Everett's. Live and learn...
