Yes that is correct on your thinking that it maybe a five star. prefix "114" was assigned to D336 engines and seeing how that is 11400153 that the "153" is a low number would make it a 1957 model tractor if it the orignal engine or not. I have three 5 stars all 1958 one each diesel, lp, and gas. My 1958 diesel engine is 11400454 and the tractor is and early production model for 1958. That's how I suspect yours is a 1957 model. Look at the other plate if it on the tractor it will be on the transmission housing on the right side by the brake pedals and it will be a tag just like the engine tag. It will be stamped 5 star and give a serial number as well. You can email I left it open if you have more questions or post that number and we'll see just what year it is for sure. Some people that know me call me a 5 star goo roo not sure if that's good or bad.

Thanks for the info Kevin. This was a tractor that I got with a collection. I'm not sure what I will do with this one as it hasn't run for some time. I'm quite sure it wouldn't take much though. Are these tractors worth investing in, or would it be better to part it out? I am on the Mn, Ont. border, about 5 hours north of Minneapolis. If you like I'd send you pictures and more info. Thanks again; Don Manty

Sure Don send it to me I am always interested in 5- Stars and talking about them too. Well as far as parting or selling out right is pretty much a coin toss. Lot of people didn"t like them and MM was still in the baby steps when designing and building them. But they where a very good learning curve for the better version that replaced them and that was the M5 then the M670"s. I can tell you more when you email me and give you some more thoughts and insights with it. Personally though I still just love them myself. My email is open and you can just click on the link here or [email protected] will work too.

Kevin; Thanks for the response. Today I drained the old fuel out of the old girl and put a battery init. The starter spun well but didn't spin the bendix. I suspect the bendix will just need to be cleaned up and lubed. I will put fresh fuel in and try it again soon. I am wondering what the process is for bleeding the air from the injection system though. Any advice would be appreciated! Just to let you know, I also ended up with 2 MM model U's as well. We also have a Super 77 Oliver, a Farmall Cub, 2 8N Fords, and 2 420 John deeres,{ a crawler and a slant steer utility}. Talk to you soon, Don

Are you going to replace the fuel filters in it too?

Kevin If necessary, I would but I"m not sure if they would be readily available in our area. I have drained all the old fuel out via a drain cokk on the filter header.
