tore the front casting off my zb this spring. The front casting is fixable if I am not able to find a replacement. Wondering if any other model have the same casting. Was the zb ever built with a narrow front or will anything else in narrow front fit. Also the one block mount by the frost plug also tore out. I have a welding shop that is willing to tackle the mess. Same question there on other blocks that would work. THANKS in advance.

That same narrow front end was put on ZAUs. I'm thinking the front pedestal on ZTUs and RTUs will bolt on as well, however, ZTs, and some RTUs and ZAUs used front hubs with a smaller bolt pattern. You can probably switch hubs or change axles.

There are 2 other differences in earlier model front pedestals. Some do not have the oil check plug on the worm gear side. (Or is it the drain plug?) The other difference, is the steering shaft on a ZB is splined and all the others used a U-joint that was pinned to the shaft. There may be steering shaft length differences as well.

I put a ZAU front end on a burnt ZB a few years ago.

As far as blocks go, any 206 block should work, from a ZA, ZB, power unit, combine? etc. except those for the later model overhead valve engines.

thanks kalvin, stupid mistake is causing alot of extra work. When you say power units what are you refering to. Not much for moline equipment in our area.

MM built stationary power units using the same 206 engine that they put in the ZA and ZB tractors. I've actually got one that probably dates from 1940 or 1945, so the 206 engine was probably around for a while before it wound up in a tractor.
