Does anyone out there have, or know someone who has a good closed-center hydraulic pump for a '69 M670 Super gas? Also, is this pump the same as a G900 with closed-center hyd? I'm guessing they are two different birds. I know that the 900 and 1000 Vista pumps are different.

I'm thinking of buying this tractor, which has only 2177 original hours, but after getting $1000 price quotes for a new(rebuilt) pump, I'm still not jumping. The old pump, which has been removed from the tractor, has too many broken pieces, and the owner was told that it was not re-buildable. Seems to me that the old Webster pumps were more reliable and less expensive. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also, does anyone know when MM switched to the black faced gauges? This one has them, and also has only warning lights for the amps and oil pressure. I didn't know they ever used "dummy lights". I prefer the gauges myself.

Welcome to the wonderful world of discontinued tractors. I tried to rebuild my G950 steering valve (we call them HMU's, short for hand metering unit) and found they no longer had any kits, but could sell me a new replacement HMU which was also no longer parts serviceable for $2800! I found a used one with less than 50 hrs for $1000 and bit the bullet. The starter on this tractor is military spec and parts are difficult to find and expensive. From my perspective, MM had a propensity to choose parts suppliers which destined to fold, and I believe things are going to get a lot more difficult (parts much more scarce and expensive). If you plan on using the tractor much, I would be sure to fix it correctly. Next time there may not be any parts to rebuild the pump at any price.
