I just rebuilt the water pump on my m670 (new impeller, shaft, bushing and seals) - my question is when I pressed the impeller shaft off of the impeller it was not flush with the impeller but it was down about .118 inches. The spring loaded seal that does under the water pump impeller seems to have a lot of spring pressure on it to me - so here is my question. How much pressure sould be on that srping seal and how far on the impeller should the shaft go. It seems to me if I press the shaft out a little more it will take away some spring pressure. Age there specs here or a rule of thumb?

Thanks
Greg

Got a water pump kit for a G900 a while back from Welters. They included an instruction sheet with it on how to set up the clearances on the impeller. You might see if they will send you a copy of that info. 417-498-6496

I'm thinking you want right much pressure on that seal. If you have too little it will leak.
