What is the difference between a U diesel and a UTSD-M? I know the M stands for military but what was actual difference? The one I am looking at is a 1958 with a serial number ending in 556. What would one be worth approx. stuck but complete?

I hauled home my UTSD-M today. It's serial number is 10800533 which makes it a 1958. It is all complete except one tire and generator. Now to get it unseized. Could this be the last U made or left?

The UTSD-M was produced for export to Turkey. It is unknown whether any made it overseas as apparently the deal fell through after production of the tractors. There are several known to be in the US but still an uncommon model for a collector. One of the big differences is the Bosch in-line injection pump(possibly for serviceability overseas). Also, the early U or UB style front end with no power steering option in 1958 when US models had power steering in 1955 with the UB Special. Good luck. Let us know if you get it bought.

I believe the S stands for standard. And D stands for diesel. According to my book, they didn't make the UTSD after 1955. Yours would be a 1954. That is unless the M designation changes everything.

The UTSD-M was built until 1958 and was the last of the "U" series tractors built. I have a very late 1958 UTSD-M tractor. I would guess that M-M was using up a bunch of left over items on these tractors during the final years of MFG. I am curious what your exact serial number is to compare with my tractor. Price on these tractors can be a real variable.
