Could some tell me more about this tractor. The Model Is EE and the serial # is 418709. this tractor is in bad shape, does not run and is quite weathered. When was it built? (1960's ??)
Thanks

Randon,

From the information you gave us it is a 1947 RTU, both the engine and tractor number corroborate that. That tractor has a very close relative that is still accounted for, in #418300. Be nice to find #418299 wouldn't it.

Jim

There should be a model tag on the right hand side of the transmission, near where the belt pulley mounts.

Kevin,
Yes the tag is located on that side of the tractor. Here is all the info found on the tag running from top to bottom. RE152 B, M-M, 3 5/8 4 4cyl, Model EE, Serial 418709. Minni Mo is a crank start.

Where is the S/N plate? It sounds like a 1947 MM RTU. The EE is the engine type in a MM R.

1951 rtu,

The plate is one the right side and this is all the info stamped into it. Reads from top to bottom.
RE152 B, M-M 3 5/8 4 4cyl, model EE, Serial 418709. The color was M-M yellow and is a row croper type front end. Thanks,
Randon

No problem. tractor s/n comes back 1947. The RT 100 is the transmission case. The model # on my "51 just has R.

51 RTU,
Thanks for your help so far. I got another reply from Jim Parisot he said the same thing except he said it was a 1947 RTU. Do You know what the RTU stands for. I'm sure it doesn't mean "Real Tuff Undercarrage"

Yes. RTU. Sorry my brain was slipping. The R model was the smallest and was designed to be a one to two-plow tractor. The "R" was first rated at 23.22 belt hp on gas. It was later re-rated at 27.09 belt hp. The second letter T is for Tractor. Type U is a universal, narrow front with two front tires.

1951 rtu,
Thanks for all the info so far.
Its a 1947 RTU and what do I do with it?
Would it be costly to re-build it? Would it be worth rebuilding it? It is in terralble shape. However, a few years ago a local fella tried to buy it from me for $500. I declined because the offer seemed rather low.
I like your opinion.

Randon,

It all depends on how much spare time/money and if you like the tractor or if it has memories for you . If it's in bad shape - it will be alot of work, but if you think you'll enjoy it - to me that is what it's all about. I recently acquired my grand father's 1951 RTU and have only been working on it for a month. My great uncle had 11 MM tractors at one time. I discovered the previous owner(one of my brothers) let the block freeze(hole above cylinder #2). Now I have to see if it can be welded or if I have to find a block. Of course I have to take it apart first. RE101-A is the casting number for the block (right side of tractor sitting on the seat). You should have the same on yours. As far as the $500 goes - if the tractor doesn't mean anything to you then I would sell, otherwise start having fun and take your time.
-Curt
