Just wanting to know when rebuilding moline motors or replacing rod and main bearings how many of you saftey wire the main bearings and put cotter keys back in the rod bearings the way they came from the factory.I have rebuilt many irrigation units and several tractors and never use them. Never had any problems.

If its got the rod bolt keepers when I take it apart I put them back in. If the rod bolt keepers are left out I don't usually replace them. I always make sure those bolts are torqued properly, and I do still safety wire the main caps, though.

I had a rod bolt fall out of a internation truck engine once and it only knocked a short time before the other broke, cheap insurance in my opinion, I put them in

Here in central Kansas I have noticed that from the oil field to irrigation to farm tractors mechanics use "Nylock" nuts on MMs. I haven"t ever heard of any blowing up. I have used them on G1000 wheatland LPG and my UTS with minor improvements for pulling.
