My brother and I just bought a 1937 ZTU for parts, we knew it had the wrong engine (didn"t matter to us), but we"re trying to figure out what the engine may have come out of. The engine data plate reads:

3 5/8 x 5, 206E-4, Serial # 0184903985

Anybody know what year this engine is, and what it may have come out of?

Data shows this was a replacment engine with Magneto. This would be the same engine as came stock with the ZA or ZB tractors. The original engine for the model ZT you have is the 186 ci. model RE engine, again with magneto. These early ZT were brass tagged engines. I have '38 model of the same.

Here are the Engine Serial numbers for the 206-E4 engines: Looks like yours was made in 1949. Many people upgraded the old ZT engines to the ZA engine to get more torque.

206B & 206E-4 ENGINES
----- ----- ----- ---

1949 0184900011 - 0184904065 inc.
1950 0185000001 - 01806742 inc.
1951 01806743 - 0812819 inc.
1952 01812820 - 01818924 inc.
