I just bought a '47 UTU. I'd like to tune it up a bit and need to know what sparkplug data pertains to this old girl. She's got AC C 73 commercials in her now, but a couple fouled when the float stuck starting her up and I broke one right in half taking them out, they were screwed in just tighter than all getout. Anyone know where I might get a carburetor rebuild kit too? This tractor has the KEF engine with the Marvel-Schebler carburetor. Thanks for any help or comments, my experience has been with green and red tractors, this is my first MM.

The correct replacement plug is champion W10. That's the old number. Champion went to a 3 digit number system a few years ago.
However, Autolite 3076 works well,if you're not going to use it much. its a little hotter plug.
I've always used carb kits from either NAPA or Value Built and gotten by O.K.

If your throttle shaft is badly worn,(I've only seen 1 U carburetor that absolutely needed a new one.) you might want to try to get a kit from someone who sells TISCO products. I think their kits still have the throttle shaft in them.

Check with your local Napa. They have the books for these old tractors. That is what I did with my Z. And when I got some manuals for it, I found that they were right on the money.
