I have a 1957 MM Bale Master. I own the manual for it, but the knotters on my baler are very different from the pictures in the manual.

Jim, I have found my M-M Balor manual that I beleive is what your baler is, not a Balemaster 760.My manual [S-220]shows knotters that are on your website, not the New Holland knotters that are on my 760.If I can help you out let me know, possibly scan and e-mail knotter , timing and troubleshooting sections

It looks like the replacement knotters. The first ones did not tie well and the factory replaced them. The new ones worked very well. The timing was different for the new ones (made by New Holland we were told) I worked on them a lot in the late 50's but don't remember the procedure for timing. Some one out there must have the supplement that explained the conversion and new procedure

I assume you have a 760 Balemaster. I'm not sure who made the original knotters. They were painted yellow the same as the rest of the baler. There was a factory modification that changed those early knotters to one built by New Holland. They were also raised up higher above the top of the bale chamber to help them tie better when baling long stemmed hay & straw. The replacement knotters were usually painted red. If I remember correctly some of the measurements were different concerning the needle timing and adjustments depending on which knotters were used and whether they were raised or not. There was an addendum to the manual that explained the differences.
