Does anyone know the correct way they go back in the head? They were removed at the machine shop and no one remembers how they went.

I wonder how they got them out? Did they use the proper tool or just drive them out? If they drove them out with a punch they most likely are ruined. The energy cells can only go in one way you put the cell in first with the skinny end in towards the motor then there is the cell cap. This is what makes the chamber complete. Then you put on the holder and then screw the big plug in You really should get a manual. Good luck if the shop you are using can`t remember how to put stuff back together you got problems

je; You seem to know a lot about those energy cells. I have one in a M5 head that is all bad. The plug, holder & cap came out easy but the cell itself is all pitted and eroded. I do not have the tool they talk about in the manual and there didn't seem to be any threads left in the small hole in the center if that is what they mean so I tried the alternative method they describe using a soft rod with a round end through the injector side. Well that thing doesn't want to budge, you just bend the rod so what now? Is there some easier way? I have never seen one out and do not even know how big the small end is that I am trying do drive on. Any advice sure would be appreciated.

If the threads are gone then the cell is not much good. It should be replaced with a good used or new one. To get it out pull injector get a round rod of steel that will just fit in the injector hole and get a big hammer and drive it out.
