MM jetstar diesel questions

Just aquired the tractor. Previous owner said it had been overhauled about 5 years ago. We pulled it all around behind the barn and all we got was white smoke.

How do you bleed the injectors? Is the tractor supposed to have a fuel pump, or is it in the injector pump. This tractor has the pump mounted where the distribuitor would fit if it were gas.

To stop, I'm thinking just push the throttle forward, is that right?

Without proper tools (compression gauge, etc.) how can I get an idea of the true condition of the engine?

Thanks!
Kelvin

To bleed a fuel system, first you must make sure there is no air in the fuel filter canisters. Usually there is a bleed screw or plug near the top of the canister. After that, crack the fuel line to the injection pump till there is a steady stream of fuel. To bleed the fuel lines, crack the fuel lines at the injector so fuel may pass by. Crank the engine over until there is fuel coming from the fittings on the lines. then tighten them back up and if the rest of the engine is in good shape, it should run.

What model jet star is it? jet 2 or 3? good luck.
