I know where there is a 955 with a turbo. Now this is a 451 not the 504. Guy who has it told me real good tractor but will not stay in one piece if you work it hard. They have had to rebuild it once since they put the turbo on it. But the reason for the rebuild was that the bottom end blew out of it

Back when I had my first 1000-Vista in about 69 or 70 I asked my dealer about putting on a M&W turbo. They were supposed to boost it from about 110hp to 135 or something like that as I recall. The dealer or shop forman wouldn't even talk about it. He said since the 504 only had 4 mains, they keep breaking the crank when they turbo them. He said if it had 7 mains like the 585, then you could do it. I know everyone is doing lots more things to those engines to pull, but he said for fieldwork it wasn't advisable. Nothing but trouble.

I too had the same question early yesterday, but didn't get around to asking. I'm glad someone did.

Gentlemen, I stand corrected. I was thinking of something else when I wrote that. I knew better because I had my 585 out of the old 1400 turned 1600 way back in the late seventy's and put new jugs and pistons in it myself. I do know the shop forman said the 585 could take the turbo but not the 504s. He said almost everyone he had heard of doing it had big problems. Thanks for correcting me.

We have a turbo on a 2155 Oliver (G-1350 MM) that we use just to pull with running 350 Hp. It likes to break head bolts and blow head gaskets. We also have a 2-150 White with turbo running 210hp to farm with. It seems to hold up all right. Both are 585 MM's
