ub diesel timing help

I have the pointer within 1/16 of an inch and I cant get it to fire without using starting fluid, and I am having a problem getting 3rd fuel filter to bleed , so I am not sure if it is a timing issue or a fuel issue, I do have fuel on both sides of all the injectors, the motor is rebuilt and new heads, and I have only worked on gas engines this is my first diesel. thanks in advance Roland W. in new mexico

My UB diesel is the same way. Let me know what you find out. In my experience it is very hard to get the third filter to bleed. I do not remember what I did on the UBD Special I had. It never really bled, but it got running. My regular UB will start if sitting in the sun when it is 75 deg or more. Time to play with my timing. The more I run it, the better it starts. Break in is important. I hear "New Mexico" is unseasonably cold right now. That can't help much when starting. Maybe tow it with your snowmobile haha. Or maybe use the 220 as a starting engine heehee.
