From he factory, did a U orUB ever come out wit the G engine option ?
Was this a dealer option or a creative way to make more h.p. for field use .

With the research I have done, I'm going to say no to the factory G engine installation. I've heard of and currently own a UB with a dealer installed G kit but don't know if it is a factory kit or just dealers ordering G parts and swapping them in. Lots of them floating around in U's, UB's, 5 stars, M5's, M602's, and M670's. These are farm tractors that were put this way before it became common in tractor pulling. Our UB was a farm tractor before we bought it, it would play with a 4-16 plow in 3rd in heavy clay.

We had a M 670 (78 hp gas) and a semi mount 4 -16". It didn't exactly "play" with it in heavy clay. One thing it wasn't geared exactly right. 1st hi was too slow. 2nd hi was too fast. 4th low was about right, but you were already in low torque. All in all it did a lot of work inspite of the gears. One thing I wonder about the UB's- didn't have a 3 point hitch and semi-mount plow, right? You must have had a lot of weights- besides fluid in the tires. It is fun seeing the old UB's in pulls with G engines.

Well, sort off. A UTIL-M came with a 340-4 GTC engine. I have seen UTI factory pictures in a book showing the taller blocks on them too.

Engine serial numbers show a 340-4 engine in UTIL-M models. This is U military tractors.

My mistake. I said UTIL-M when I meant UMIL. No civilian U"s with factory G engines.
