OK I give up I've been working on things for almost 40 years ain't never worked on one of these. getting ready to pull the crank -all done sept for that darned oil pump shaft how do you remove it?? got a manual commin' but I won't sleep tonite. I've took the oil filter base and oil pump down---drove the roll pin out of the gear is it just stuck in the gear? don't want to screw it up thanks for any help Dave

I think there is a set screw on the front surface of the crankcase that has to be removed, it holds a piece that holds the shaft in. Look at the front in line with the shaft, down about 3-4". Clean the surface, there should be a hidden set screw. Hope this helps. John

not all that hidden if you know what to look for I had convinced myself the shaft came out the bottom---crankshaft is in the pick-up ready to go to the shop to be ground---THANK-YOU Dave
