A guy wants to sell a MM Jet Star 3 44 Super.It's got power steering,new ft tires,80% rear tires,and excellent sheet metal,according to him.It also has a knock,and it sounds like the thrust brg is bad.The tractor is about 300 miles from here,so before I go look at it,I'd like some input. 1.Are these good tractors/worth fixing up? 2.Assuming the motor can be rebuilt,what's a ballpark value? I realize if it's got a spun main,or something like that,it's not worth much of anything.
He said to make him an offer-maybe I'll start at $10 !

As owners also of a MM Jetstar 3 Super, we read through Kelvins response to the value of the tractor. What are you referring to when you mention the "TA", and it being a weakpoint?

where are you located and where is the tractor located? I had two delivered from KY to iowa and have only about $1000 stuck in both. THey are great little tractors. I would be interested in it if you are not.

I don't usually respond to this kind of message.

But:

At a penny a pound for scrap, its worth $400. If you have to rebuild it, expect to have at least $1000 in the overhaul. So if you're asking if its a good investment, no.

But:

If you want a tractor that is not real common (not terribly rare, either) and can do about as good a work as a new one and a whole sight cheaper, then maybe you should consider it.

BTW: The TA is a weak point.
