585 Valves

I have been studying the differences between early and later valves. I have several heads laying around but noticed they all have the earlier design valves. My running tractor needs a head worked and I thought I would just take one of my spares in and have rebuild. But after thinking on how I remembered someone posting on here having trouble dropping valves I thought I would ask a question. Do you even consider running the earlier valves. Looks like fusion weld is lower and weaker stem shank for early. Did notice intake seat has different part #, what is the difference there? Can't see why I can't have head ready just use later valves. I do need the correct depth for valves, if anyone knows. Thanks
