Speaking of cracked heads, I was given the name of a guy in minnesota that drills and welds cracks. Does anyone have any experience with this type of repair or should I stay clear of this. I have several heads around that cracks were found in. Any ideas?? Thanks!

There is a company in Nevada, Iowa that welds them. I think that they heat them up slowly, weld them, and then let them cool slowly. Takes maybe a couple days. I've had several done and had good luck. I don't have their name right now. maybe someone else can provide it.

You can generally get cleaned up, pressure checked heads for about $200 more or less depending on compression ratio. Or you can buy "factory rebuilt" but bare heads from ValuBuilt for about $300. The 4206 is kind of an odd bird - pretty high compression for most applications - mostly found on LP and/or High Altitude applications. CR=10.85:1 on a 403 motor; 9.65:1 on a 336; 8.35:1 on a 283. They weigh about 70 pounds each so if you are buying, you need to figure costs of shipping. Sight unseen, if you are pulling off a tractor, I would probably not figure value more than $50 each. If you are buying, I know where there are some 4206's coming out of natural gas 425 power units. They're in Mississippi.

Not knowing if they are cracked? I wouldn't give much, I've got a set 4210 pressure checked and fresh surface and valve job 600$. If that gives you an Idea.
