One thing nobody mentioned was you need to get some idea how badly its stuck. its different for an engine that sits dry and the rings rust to the cylinders from an engine that has sat for years with an uncovered exhaust. You don't need to be as rough on an engine that is dry stuck as one that has had lots of water in the cylinders. I might try the coke idea if its dry stuck. Its dandy for cleaning rusty carburetors. If it wouldn't come free in 3-4 days I would try to siphon as much coke out as I could and dilute the rest with water. You try these at YOUR own risk: These are just things I have tried. I would try the soaking ideas first: 1. piece of post on top of piston and hit with big sledge. 2. 8 ton hydraulic jack on post on piston, heavy duty chain across top of jack and around oil pan. [ You can break a chain so be careful] If it moves, it will usually bring the other block off the crankcase so you have to swap betwee pistons and throws on the crank. Cylinder 1&4 are on one throw, cylinder 2&3 on the other. These two worked on a 403 and a 283 that were stuck. 3. I have also soaked stuck engines in food grade olive oil to loosen them up. 4. I soaked some really stuck R blocks free with CLR (Calcium,Lime, and Rust remover). Got the pistons out O.K. after a few days witha curved bar and hammer, but the CLR left the rusty area above the pistons pitted. One block was open all the way into the water gallery, but may have been freeze damaged before I started.
