I have had a shop bore the intakes on four different blocks over the years with 50-50 results. Usually need to braze and JBweld. Is it worth doing if your intake is the same size or a little larger?

Take a look at 10A4232 type heads and their intake. They always work better. I'm not sure how far you can bore out the stock holes, but I do know smoothing them up some can help if done correctly.
