Although my V was stuck when I got it, I haven't had to search for engine parts. We soaked it for 2-3 weeks with diesel fuel, then I removed the head and with Daddy pulling up on the crank and me rapping the pistons with a block of wood, she broke free. I put the old head gasket back on it. Although it smokes a little, it runs well otherwise. Oh-Bill Williams did sell us a rebuilt carburetor. And it got a recored radiator. I understand engine parts can be tough to find. Although apparrently not impossible. The Avery V I worked on last Summer for another collector had been overhauled and just needed lots minor things to get it running. The worst part was getting the governor to work. And we took the best parts of 3 different carburetors to get 1 that would work. I don't think that collector has any idea where the auto machine shop got the parts they put in it, though. And the machine shop closed not long after it was rebuilt. I also went through the transmission on ours later on. I didn't have any problems coming up with transmission seals or bearings. We did have to cook the oil out of the clutch plate. I don't understand why or how the engine managed to oil it, but it did. FYI: The same fellow who put me on to this tractor thought that Farmall Cub rings would fit it.
