Mike, Yes they will fit. You can bore them to 4.75 + .060 which is about 4.810 bore. Pistons are avaliable for this setup too. I have a set of blocks on the shelf I would sell. I also have a friend that makes custom 5.75 bore blocks and you CAN run water in them. There is another setup with a G crank and M670 blocks you can make a 4.81 x 6.125 engine with U rods. Feel free to e-mail me for details. Always happy to get one more MM out there beating red ones.

Ethan

I am considering updating my UT diesel from the stock 283 CID to 336 CID. Does anyone have any comments or ideas to save me learning the same thing that is common knowledge? I am considering the problem of injector pumps. My original item may not even be a good candidate for rebuild as kids have vandalized it over the last few years.

Hi Alan. This is Ethan here that you talked to last night. Should have pictures of the stuff for you. I spoke to a friend of mine after I got of the phone with you last night. Bigger blocks and pistons will bolt right on diesel with no modification to make it fit. Your original heads will work, but compression will be significantly increased from stock. My guess is that it will start much better. Old diesels were a bit low to start with. A bigger volume 336 pump will support your new big engine a bit better. I will get those pictures probably tomorrow for you and e-mail them. My 336 pump works great on my 300 cube UB.

Hey...
This is a small world! It will be nice to see if your pump will be a nice replacement for my OEM style pump. Does the 336 pump lubricate with with the engine oil or does it lubricate from the diesel fuel? Several guys have told me to be sure how that side of the injector pump works to avoid problems. I am curious about what you say would result in higher compression by using my original heads. Lots to think about. I await your response.

This one requires engine oil. At leats I know my GBD does. I do know it is the same setup as the one you have. I will look your compression up with your heads. I have a chart that will tell. Thanks.

Your injector pump is sounding better all the time. You have one of the "big boys" also. I used to have an early series GTBD. I really liked that tractor but I just couldn't justify the truck and trailer to haul Betha around. She is now in the hands of another caring hobbiest and is being restored. This UTSD-M is as big as I can handle weight wise. Did you say you know a few guys building diesel pullers? Alan
