how many hp is the m-5 also was this the transition years 60-64 that m-m started sharing tecnoligy with massey ferguson?

Spud, The horse power on M5 gas was dbr 54.36, PTO 61.01, LPG dbr 54.05, PTO 61.26 and Diesel dbr 50.99, PTO 58.15. I don't know what technology your are talking about as I never heard of such a thing. They did make large tractors for MH in the 60's. The MH 95 was a MM GB, a MH 95 Super was a MM GVI and MH 97 was a MM 705 or 706 depending on 2 or 4 wheel drive. On all of these the only difference from MM and MH was the sheet metal, paint, decals and emblems. Roger

What were the biggest MM"s in the 60"s? My neighbor down the road had a dairy and big (to my way of thinking - compared to WD"s) yellow MM"s that would sit and idle while we chatted with them in the field, plow"s down in the furrow... when departing it was neat to watch that MM throttle up barely increasing rpm, and just start right in without a grunt - what an engine that was. What could it have been? Seemed like an old D-6 Cat engine or something!

In addition to Rogers comment, I think the reason MM made MF tractors was because MF had a fire in their factory, in effect, shutting them down, but good ole MM came to the rescue, selling them their best selling line of tractors. Another MM excellent management decision??? I have my Grandads MF tractor, but wonder if they would still be in business if not for the MM tractors. Just my 2 cents. John

Also here is another thought that really didn't help MM out either. I have been told by different people you could get a Massey of any of the Minnie revamped to Massey's cheaper than you could get at the Minnie dealer. Having said that, is the only Massey's they own and get their repair parts from none other than you guessed it MM. That was before all the big Agco deals now.

Didnt the MM dealers take on the Ferguson tractors when they were first sold in the US. And then have to give them up when MH and Ferguson merged? I think this hurt the MM dealer some.
