Any body know a good way to get the cam shaft gear off a diesel engine with Roosa pump. I have the service and parts book for it. I removed the bolt and attached a 2 jaw puller and it won't budge. Service book says when reinstalling to heat it to 300 degree's. Would heat help? Sprayed some good pent. oil and left puller on. Also can you shift gears on the fly. I don't really need ampli torq to be working but will see what it looks like when I get that far. It's the 76th diesel built and has standard front axle. And the monster 30degree swinging drawbar. I can't wait to get it out in the field.

If you can get the Cam out you might try cooling the cam with dry ice or liquid nitrogen before pressing it out. Cooling the cam will have simmilar effect to heating the gear for installation. Seen this done in machine shop that reworks mine equipment.

Be careful of a couple of things. One watch out for frostbight. The other thing is be careful not to hit the cam it will be more brittle.

Good luck,

Ty, I'm not much help but I'm reasonably confident in saying that the cam is going to have come out and be put in a press to seperate the gear from the shaft. The only experience I have with this is with small Farmalls but my experience with them is that only a press will do it.
