looking to buy a 445

I am looking at a 445 gas ['56 model] with the thought of buying it. I am spoiled by working on/with 8n Fords in the sense I can find enough parts to build a whole 8n somewhere on the net.

My question is how is parts availability on Minneapolis Moline especially the 445 gas. I have done a google search and most of the sites don't list the parts I am likely to want--eg electrical, carb, etc.

We have an AGCO dealer here in town but I have a history with them and if I need to go there I will buy something else. Any help appreciated.

I purchased my 445 with loader about 3 yrs ago. It is a nice compliment to my 2N. My 2N is a great little tractor but it definitely has limits.

Parts are not quite as easy to find for the 445 as with N's but are available. I've had great luck with Welters (417-498-6496, very helpful with questions) when I rebuilt the carb. and replaced fuel shutoff valve this fall. I converted my 445 to a 12 Volt, 3 wire alternator system so I rewired tractor myself as well.

If I can be of help e-mail me.

Thanks for the reply. You are on the same page with me in that while n series are great little tractors there are limits.

Are MM parts spendy compared to n series parts? Any other sources?

Your mileage may vary

Parts are slightly higher than for N's, but certainly not outrageous in my experience so far.

I believe my carb. kit was $24 and the fuel shut off valve was about $15 from Welters. (Don't have receipt in front of me, don't hold me firmly to those prices).

I've also replaced clutch/ ring gear/ and pressure plate on this tractor. Purchased from one of the fine folks on this site (another good source of parts).

I have a couple of 445"s. 1 is fair without sheetmetal and the other is a basket case for parts. If you will be needing parts, let me know.

"Hello Gentlemen" I am looking for a front grill mesh for my 1956 445 MM. Does any one out there happen to know where I can get one?
