A friend just got a 335. Plan on hauling it home for him over the holidays. Just wanted to hear input on this model from you folks. It is a gas tractor with a loader. Apears to have a shuttle shift of some sort. Engine is stuck but appears it should free with a little work (I hope). Running when parked ,exhaust covered etc.,You know the story... Trying to get him hooked on tractors , don't think it will be too hard! Thanks,Chris

Here's a picture of our 335 Utility tractor taken the day after we got it new in 1957. It was a really great baler tractor with live PTO and the TA. Forward locked it in straight drive; back dropped forward travel about in half as I remember, so you didn't have to clutch if the windrow got a little heavier.

Not sure what kind of loader looks a bit cobbled on so it could be anything. A farm loader not an industrial. Manure bucket and no down pressure. What is unusual about the engine? I am not sure about the T/A. That may be what it is. Just guessed it might be a shuttle shift as it had a loader on it. A long lever on the right side. Think it comes out of the front of the trans or the clutch housing. Have not run the tractor yet so not really sure what does what.
thanks for the info.

Well, for a guy like me who is used to auto engines and the "other" tractor engines, the fact that there is not one but two block and or head assemblies consisting of two cylinders each and running a coolant pipe between them seems strange. The arrangement of the cooling fan mount with coolant pipes running back to the block is not something you see everyday either. I also have never before seen a removeable panel on the side of the oil pan/sump for access either though I have no doubt that other manufacturers have used them before. This engine has some fairly long push rods too, the radiator is open on the bottom and has to fit to the tractor frame with a watertight gasket. Having said all that, our 445 is a great tractor!! I learned a LOT rebuilding it and it now runs real nice. Love that power steering... That long lever that comes up on the right side of the dash is a torque amplifier-gives the trans high and low range effectively doubling the number of gears. The loader might be a "Freeman" I believe that some dealers sold them new along with the tractor back then....have fun with it! Frank

The access panel on the side of the oil pan peeked my curiousity when I first purchaced my M670 LP. I pulled the cover off and found an orginal "White" oil filter. I did a little researched and found a Wix 51118 will work in it. I contacted one a local autoparts store and asked them for the Wix number and to my suprise the said they could have next day.

If you are looking for a filter for the MMs Wix has a pretty good reference on there websight.

Late fifties vintage, about thirty-five horsepower, smaller brother to the 445(shares some of the same parts), strange engine configuration but parts availability isn't a problem, shuttle shift? are you talking about the TA?
