I have the opportunity to buy a Minneapolis-Moline 445M (Military). It is a gas model, 24-volt system, with weights on all four wheels and more weights under the seat. Does anyone have an approximation for what an average condition, running 445M would be worth? How many were built? What color did they come from the factory?

I am a John Deere collector, and I dont know much about MMs.

That's truely a very rare bird if it is a true 445 military they only built 74 of them. The reason why I say this is because I have see people call and list Big Mo 400 Military as 445 military. I have a big mo 400 military I am working on now. So either on of these still comands a good price as far as collectablity goes. The paint will that so up in the air with standard colors and all. I took the brass plate off of the side on my sheet metal and under it was a bright safety yellow. That's what I am going back with too because I believe it came from the factory like that and not the Prarie Gold as a norm. The paint under it was so good I am going to have it photo matched as well and stencil all the military numbers right back in place too. One early this year big mo 400 military advertised as 445 brought $2700.00 at Egbert's sale in Ohio. The weight is going to heavy as well. It wasn't the fact of pulling an airplane as much as stopping it once they got it to roll. You can email with more question's if you like and I will try and answer the best I can.

The tag on the side says 445M, with the M220A-4 engine, so it must be a 445. It is currently bright yellow, but there appears to be a coat of Olive Drab underneath, so it is hard to say what color it came from the factory as.

Have you had any trouble finding parts, especially some of the special military parts like spark plugs and wires?

I saw that a regular 445 weighs around 4500 lbs, and the tag on this one shows 7900 lbs, so they added 3400 lbs of weight!

Is there any place to get production and shipping information for the Molines? It would be nice to get some information about where it shipped, how many are left, etc.

O.k. then if that's what the tag reads then you have a very rare tractor there. Plugs and wires will be standard equipment just like the farm tractors. The really hard part is finding engine parts I.E. bearings and rods. The military spec. stuff is very hard to come up with. My 220M has U302 pistons in it and they where bad. That was really the only thing so far and I found a good used set for that. My wife and I have been trying to trace where ours came from by the military numbers and the owner but have only found it came from the base in Texas Air Force Ellington I think she told me. Unfortunately that's it so far military records on these old tractor are just not out there or at least I haven't found it. If I find something I will share it.
