anti- freeze in oil

I just completed rebuilding both the top and bottom end of a 445 engine , today I found anti-freeze in the oil.
Before I tear it down again, does anyone have any ideas what can be wrong. Seems pretty simple one of the 4 main parts of the engine has a crack some where. How can I find out what part has a crack in it?

Did you put thread sealer on the bolts on the left hand side of the blocks (as you are sitting on the seat)? The repair manual says to do this to prevent permanent from leaking into the crankcase. Marty

The oil pan would be a cool idea (except that a 445 doesn't have one) BUT the idea is still a good one. I would remove the side cover and pressurize the cooling system just like they do in an auto repair shop to test cooling systems, and then try to spot where the coolant is getting into the crankcase. It's not going to be easy to locate but it's worth a try. If I was to guess, it'd be head gasket(s). Keep us posted.

Two other things to do when you pressure test: Remove the valve cover. I've seen them crack between the valve guides. Also, remove the spark plugs. After it sits with pressure on it for a spell (maybe overnight) spin it over and see if any water blows out one of the plug holes.

I had a G doing the same once. I took off the pan and laid on my back. Soon a drop hit me in the face. It was one of the blocks rusting through the bottom. Make sure it's not something easy like the water pump before you tare it apart. If it's coming down a piston, then it could be a head but at least you may know which one then.
