IS THERE ANYONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO TELL YEAR OR MODEL OF TRACTOR BY CASTING NUMBERS. I HAVE A TRACTOR WITH NO ID PLATES ON TRANS. OR ENGINE THANKS!

BRAIN, I think this tractor is a military model has wide front with heavy axel, with sling eyes on it for lifting. The brakes I think are shoe with only one pedal and master cylinder and a parking brake on right side of trator and hand operated lever for parking brake. Two sets of cylinders on engine. Rear wheels are one casting with inter weights and are made for duel wheels. The steering wheel is off set to left,foot cluth has a forward and reverse shuttle lever on right side. By some pictures I have seen on Internet and books I think It is a 50-53 and modle UTI-M. THANKS LARRY

Larry,
There's a few ways to tell what year your U is or at least narrow it down. Does it have disc brakes or drum brakes? Does the engine have two sets of two cylinders or all 4 cylinders cast in one? Are the rear wheel centers one casting or do they bolt to a center hub with 8 bolts? Is the steering wheel centered and high above the gas tank or is it offset to the left? Does it have a foot or hand clutch? If you answer these questions maybe we can narrow it down for you.
