i just perchased a 5 star with a sn. number 11000336. is there a 5 star still out their between 0001 & 0336 known to existed? the tractor ran two years ago, but has sence sat out in the weather. the trans gear shifter has no resistance through the gear pattern. do i have serious problems? the hi lo feels good and tite. the owner died and the widow had someone pull it from the side yard to the back yard. could that have damaged the trans?

I'm thinking you could take the top off the transmission without too much trouble. Its the part with the shifter in it.

I am really not sure I understand the question or not. These transmissions just setting there shift through the pattern easy. I doubt that pulling it around back has anything to do with tearing up the transmission. It would most likely slide the tires or turn the engine over if it was in gear. I would really think it would tear up the clutch or ampli-torc "in low range" long before the transmission would give out. Your tractor is a 1957 model and all of mine are 58's. If you have more questions you can email me I left it open in case.
